想想

距離完成凱德集團（Capitalland)的委託製作案

一轉眼已經十多年了

這些年便一直專心做著自己的創作

未曾接委製案
對於委製我個人其實並不排斥
我知道有些創作者覺得太商業之類的
不屑接
但看看藝術史中的名作
有許多都是委製作品
我想這說明了
委託製作的作品未必就沒有藝術性

不過根據我從前接案的經驗
有時客戶在創作上要求與限制太多

製作起來就會感到有些綁手綁腳

所以我不特別排斥但也不特別愛接

這次因緣際會
蒙知名藝人溫昇豪先生的委託
繪製一幅雪景
是一次愉快的經驗

他表示很喜歡我個展的展出作品的《雪國 XVI》

但該作已蒙收藏
於是通過索卡藝術委託我畫一件和《雪國 XVI》一樣是俯瞰視角
有萬家燈火的雪景畫
另外希望畫中有能三個雪人象徵他們一家三口
以及他非常喜歡的富士山
其它我都可以自由發揮
也不需要事先看過草圖
完成時間也不限定

從構思到完成費時五個月
期間不斷調整修改與沉澱

終於完成
命名為《雪望》
英文名則不直譯
用了： “Looking Outward Together”
截取自法國作家聖．修伯里（Saint-Exupéry）的話：
“Love does not consist of gazing at each other, but in looking outward together in the same direction.”

Think about it, it's been more than a decade since I completed the commissioned work for CapitaLand Group. Over these years, I haven't taken on any commissioned projects.

This time, by a stroke of fate, the well-known artist James Wen entrusted me, through Soka Art, to create a snowscape painting. It was a delightful experience.

WIP

I met Mr. Wen at my solo exhibition last year. He was very friendly and kind. He expressed his fondness for my artwork. For the commissioned piece, he wanted a scene with three snowmen, symbolizing his family of three, overlooking a landscape of lights. He also wanted to include Mount Fuji, which he dearly loves. Other than these specifications, I had creative freedom. There was no need to present preliminary sketches, and there was no strict deadline, granting me a high degree of creative freedom.

It took five months from conception to completion. During this time, I made continuous adjustments, modifications, and contemplations. Finally, I completed the piece, naming it "雪望" The English title doesn't directly translate but is instead inspired by a quote from the French writer Antoine de Saint-Exupéry: 'Love does not consist of gazing at each other, but in looking outward together in the same direction.'

I couldn't help but feel a bit nervous at the time, wondering if Mr. Wen would be satisfied with the painstakingly crafted artwork.

In the end, he expressed his great satisfaction and gratitude, which put my mind at ease.
