The Longest Distance celebrates 10 years of generous support from Dr. Winston Oh who initiated The Travel Awards for the Fine Arts students of LASALLE College of the Arts. The Dr Winston Oh Travel Awards resulted in many foreign encounters that inspire beyond the confines of the studio spaces. From sights and sounds of abroad, to the culture shock of experiencing a new locale to friendships made and various life-changing stories, the artists recount their journeys in this exhibition.

《最遠的距離》慶祝Dr. Winston Oh十年來對拉薩爾藝術學院美術系學生的慷慨支持。由他所創立的「Dr. Winston Oh 旅行獎助計畫」，讓許多學生得以踏上異國旅程，獲得超越工作室空間限制之外的靈感。

從海外的所見所聞、初到陌生城市的文化衝擊，到旅途中建立的友誼，以及各種改變人生的故事，藝術家們在此次展覽中回顧並分享了他們的旅程經歷。

這個"最遙遠的距離" (The Longest Distance)
和林靖傑導演的作品不太有關係
而是關於旅行的一個展覽

This The Longest Distance has little to do with the movie by director Lin Jing-jie.
Rather, it is an exhibition centered around travel.

每年贊助約5位拉薩爾藝術學院(新加坡)純美術系學生
讓他們出國旅行
目的地自選
(類似雲門的流浪者計畫)
回來後根據旅行所見所感
進行創作
並有成果發表展

Dr. Winston Oh is a physician with a deep passion for travel. The Travel Awards he initiated sponsor around five Fine Arts students from LASALLE College of the Arts each year, allowing them to travel abroad. The destination is entirely self-chosen, somewhat similar to the “Wanderer Project” by Cloud Gate Dance Theatre. After returning, the students create works based on what they experienced and encountered during their journeys, followed by a presentation exhibition of the results.

因此找來了歷屆得獎者
辦了這個10周年紀念展

This year marks the 10th edition of the program, so past award recipients were invited back to participate in this 10th anniversary exhibition.

我雖然人不在新加坡
但也寄了3幅小畫過去參展

Although I am no longer in Singapore, I still sent three small paintings to be included in the show.

著實勾起了我不少回憶

This exhibition truly brought back many memories for me.

In 2004, after receiving this award, I spent two weeks traveling around Japan.

佈展與開幕時的情景
一一湧現心頭
彷若昨日

The scenes of installing the exhibition and the opening reception
all came flooding back to me,
as if they had happened only yesterday.
