來自葡萄牙的喬西說我的作品有夢一般的感覺 (dreamy) 以及模糊性 (ambiguous)既寫實又抽象
近看遠觀很不同
畫的雖是車水馬龍的城市夜景卻有者空虛感(empty feeling)
他很喜歡

喬西對我的畫作的介紹:
So, I want to talk about Lin Bao Ling, because I think his work is very related to the subject of this exhibition. One of the main topics of our exhibition is our generation. The generation we are talking about is in a very ambiguous situation, in the terms that they have a lot of dreams, a lot of possibilities, but the same time they are over protected by the previous generation. So although they have possibilities to do these dreams, they don’t profit from this situation. So it’s very ambiguous situation we are in, and I think Lin Bao Ling paintings are also very ambiguous in both the technique and concept. He usually represents a lot of night street views, and he focus a lot on the neon, on the lights of the streets, on the traffic light, everything… I think his approach to this kind of images is, in terms of the technique, I think he gives a very dreamy character, because he uses very fluidly brush strokes, and there are a lot of abstract symbols in his paintings are very dreamy, not a very realistic view of the street. At the same time, when we focus on his paintings, we can clear see there’s street, there’s people, there’s buildings, there’s lights, publicities… and everything else. But it’s the kind of dreamy feeling that we have. Also the technique he uses. He usually represents very crowded streets with a lot of traffic and people going out and walking around, but he gives a very empty feeling to his paintings, so I think all these ambiguous thing both in technique and concept are very… um, first I think it’s very clever approach that he takes on his art, secondly I think it relate to, maybe not directly to out theme, but in a subjective way, very relate to the situation that our generation is in.
策展人張致中中文解說:
他(喬西)的切入點是不太一樣的, 他是從觀看作品本身的感覺上去切入的。他一開始有提到關於我們處境的部份, 我們年輕人現在是處在一個比較模糊, 比較模陵兩可的狀態上。我們同時有很多的資源, 擁有很多的資訊, 然後我們可能也被我們的的父母過度的保護, 因為我們是少子化的源頭; 但在同時, 我們被保護的那麼理想, 我們可能反而會被限制住。 當我們想要去做某些事情,我們的父母可能會說太危險了不要去做, 而這個可能會傷害到我們。那等於說, 我們同時握有很多的機會. 可是也同時失去了許多的機會。這是一個非常弔詭、 非常模陵兩可的狀態, 喬西覺得佷感興趣, 所以他覺得, 他在林葆靈的作品上能感受到這種模糊感。他的畫是水墨畫, 嗯, 其實算是複合媒材, 但是它那種質感很像水墨畫的韻味, 他用黑白的感覺去做出都市夜景裡面充滿了光線流動, 霓虹燈, 人群, 車輛交互穿梭的一種迷離的意味在。其實在他的作品裡面你可以感受到它其實是很具體的在描寫一個景物而已, 但用他的表現方法處理出來, 就變得很像夢境, 就像喬西說的"dreamy”,變成一個不太像現實的環境; 但同時又是我們生活, 像是今天下午走出去,在台北市街頭就可以看到的景象。他使用的景象通常是車水馬龍, 人很多, 到處走來走去, 車子很多, 可能甚至塞在路上, 然後所有的燈同時發亮, 有一種過度曝光的感覺;但其實整個畫面給人的感覺又是非常孤寂空蕩蕩, 寂寥的那種意味, 他好像又把城市的那種跟自然切割開的那種貧瘠的感覺表現的很淋漓盡致。它其實是一種對立, 在充滿了人氣 、充滿了生機跟空蕩蕩之間,還有其實應該是很具體、很具象的生活周遭的景象跟一種近乎夢境般、夢幻般的視覺效果, 在這兩者之間飄忽不定的那種感覺 喬西覺得這種感覺就和我們年輕人所處的環境是很接近的, 所以他在上面得到很多共鳴。

我這次共展出7幅作品
6幅為2011年最新作品
以紐約夜景為題材皆是畫在購自美國的Denril Multi-Media Vellum上
(是一種聚丙烯材質/polypropylene)
水墨在其上渲染流動產生的效果很不同於在宣紙上
而且這個Multi-Media Vellum是半透明的
畫在背面的在正面也可以看到
但會有一點霧面的效果
很有趣
用再多水也不會皺
因為是塑料(常聽說塑膠萬年不腐)
猜想保存上或許會比宣紙好很多
最大的1幅是去年獲台北當代水墨雙年展新秀獎佳作的作品
