MARINA MANDARIN APPOINTS THIRD ARTIST-IN-RESIDENCE LIN BAO LING

After the highly successful launch of its unique Artist-In-Residence programme with artists Sandra Lee in 2006 and Joshua Yang in 2007, Marina Mandarin Singapore appointed its third Resident Artist Lin Bao Ling in February 2008. A graduate of LASALLE-SIA College of the Arts, Lin Bao Ling is noted for his distinctive and highly evocative paintings of nocturnal cityscapes that are contemplative and yet energetic at the same time. His incandescent night paintings reflect the irony and complexity of modern cities. Through a sensitive and skilled interplay of lightness and darkness in both its technical execution and symbolic interpretation, Lin produces a body of works evoking a strong depth of feeling and artistry. Organised in collaboration with art consultancy Asian Art Options, this third residency will culminate in a solo exhibition and cocktail reception for the artist in July 2008.

The artist will be in residence on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from 1pm to 6pm in his studio on Level 4 of Marina Mandarin Singapore, located at 6 Raffles Boulevard, Marina Square, Singapore 039594; Tel: [65] 6845 1000. 新加坡濱華大酒店第三位駐館藝術家林葆靈

在 2006 年與藝術家 Sandra Lee，以及 2007 年與 Joshua Yang 合作，成功推出獨具特色的「藝術家駐館計畫」（Artist-In-Residence Programme）後，新加坡 Marina Mandarin 酒店於 2008 年 2 月任命第三位駐館藝術家——林葆靈。

林葆靈畢業於 LASALLE-SIA College of the Arts（拉薩爾藝術學院），以其獨具特色且極富感染力的夜間城市景觀繪畫而受到關注。他的作品既具有沉思性，同時又充滿能量。他那些帶有熾烈光感的夜景畫作，映照出現代城市所具有的矛盾與複雜性。

無論是在技術層面的表現，還是在象徵意義的詮釋上，林葆靈都以細膩而嫻熟的方式運用明與暗之間的交織與對照，創作出一系列具有強烈情感深度與藝術感染力的作品。

此次第三屆駐館計畫由 Marina Mandarin 與藝術顧問公司 Asian Art Options 合作策劃，並將於 2008 年 7 月以藝術家的個展及雞尾酒會作為駐館計畫的最終成果。

藝術家將於每週星期二、星期四及星期六下午 1 點至 6 點駐留於其位在新加坡 Marina Mandarin 酒店 4 樓的工作室。
