索卡藝術中心以經營20年的眼光審視藝術作品的內在價值，並以 “觀察藝術家之未來發展性” 為前提。由2008年的凝視與瞥視(Gaze & Glance)開始，至2009年的微芬閃爍(Flicker of Fragments of Fragrance)，過去二屆曾參加徵件展出的藝術家，在往後的發展表現亦可圈可點，如2008年同時於Art Taipei新人專區(MIT)展出的賴易志、2010年高雄獎優選的陳卉穎與徐小涵、2010年入選的蔡孟閶、2010年觀察員特別獎的蔡宗祐，以及2010年高雄獎得主黃郁雯。索卡藝術中心在2010年則以搖木馬(The Rocking Horse)為主題，再次舉辦索卡好樣–台灣青年藝術家徵件。

The Rocking Horse 一詞源於1885年出生的英國作家D.H. Lawrence於1949年發表的短篇故事：The Rocking-Horse Winner。故事中主角為一小男孩，家境看似富裕，但總圍繞著詭異氛圍，輕聲地說著：我們需要更多的錢。於是男孩為了貼補家用，以瘋狂的、起乩似的方式搖著他的小木馬，預測賭馬的結局。而故事最後小男孩因過度瘋狂而死。
2009年以前的藝術市場正如同這富裕的家庭，充斥著歡樂美好的成交量與成交價，整體產業仍可感受到市場上瀰漫著一股：「再來一點！我們還需要更多啊！」的氣氛。於是部份的藝術家乃至投機者瘋狂地搖著他們的畫筆、潑灑著他們的畫布，看似無盡地拉抬著市場，預測著最大的贏家與美好的未來。於是藝術市場終於在2009年如夢似幻地破滅。
夢幻破滅後就會留下真實。在動盪過後的藝術市場下求新求變的青年藝術家，仍然用力地搖著木馬；然而他們瘋狂追求的，卻是嶄新的創作題材與多變複雜的媒材與手法。他們不停地搖著木馬，正如他們不停地實驗新的理念、製程，以及不同於往的藝術表現。對這些奮力創新的青年藝術家而言，搖木馬並不是在追求勝利，而是一次又一次的自我突破與超越。
索卡藝術中心今年精選出23件作品。期待能拋予觀者、藏家以及眾多藝術愛好者一個回到藝術原始價值的問題，由內而外地以清新的角度觀賞審視藝術作品。而我們希望在金融海嘯的衝擊之後，藝術創作與藝術市場，能夠如同故事結尾主角的叔叔所說的：“But, poor devil, poor devil, he's best gone out of a life where he rides his rocking-horse to find a winner.” (那不好的，就隨之逝去吧！)。我們所期待的，正隨著這些遠景可期、不懈努力的青年藝術家而前進。我們搖的不再只是木馬，是馳往實現理想的駿馬！

2010 Soka So Young 索卡好樣 - 青年藝術家徵件 - 入選名單公布
此次投件作品多達80件，經索卡三地評選之後，選出12位青年藝術家：
林葆靈、施翠峰、高義勝、許芳禎、陳科嘉、陳穎貞、
黃柏勳、曾聖惠、廖文豪、蔡慧盈、鍾和憲、顏培倫。
依照徵選的作品，此次展名定為：The Rocking Horse - 搖木馬。

Days before 2009, the art market is like the well-off family, full of joy and good deals, the whole industry is filled with hopes. So most of the artists frantically waved their brushes, canvas splashed, everybody wants to be the biggest winner. Then the art market has finally collapsed in 2009.
After the burst of the dream, everybody snapped back to reality. People kept shaking their little horse and constantly experimenting with new ideas, process, and different expressions. But to those who struggled for innovations, for those young artists, rocking horse is not for the pursuit of victory, they shake the little horse to see the ground beyond what they can see.
Soka Art Center look forward to offer the audience, many art lovers, collectors and art of the original value of art. They hope that after the impact of the financial tsunami, art creation and art market may works to the end of the story: "But, poor devil, poor devil, he's best gone out of a life where he rides his rocking-horse to find a winner. "(that bad, on passing it along!). We wish, the unremitting efforts to advance young artists will not be paid in vain.
