(1) Regulations of the Work to be Entered

1. The work should be a painting which can be hung on the wall. The work should not have been displayed in any previous competitions. Images on videotapes etc. will not be accepted.

(參賽作品需為繪畫且可掛在牆上。不接受先前已在比賽中展出過的作品亦不接受錄像之類的作品。)

2. The minimum size of the work should be 91cm x 91cm, and the maximum size should be 162cm x 162cm.(Not less than 91cm and not exceed 162cm in any direction) The total weight, including the frame, should not exceed 30kg.

(作品最小需為91 x 91 公分,最大不超過162x162公分,重量(含框)不超過30公斤)

3. Works that pass the 1st screening must be framed for protection when being shipped to Japan. Acrylic frames are allowed, but glass frames are not allowed.

(通過初選的作品需以壓克力裝框保護,運送到日本。不接受玻璃裝框。)

4. Works that make a noise, omit offensive smells, exude fluid, are liable to be transformed, are unable to be hung on the wall or are considered a danger to visitors will not be accepted.

(不接受會產生噪音,散發異味,滲出液體,容易變形,無法掛在牆上的或會對觀者造成危險的作品。)

5. The organizer reserves the right to refuse any work not considered appropriate for display.

(主辦單位有權拒絕任何評定為"不合適/不妥當"的作品的展出。)

Entrants must be at least 15 years old as of March 31, 2006.

No restrictions to the nationality of artists entering the competition.

How to Enter(1)Preliminary Online Entry

Entrants are required to register on the Preliminary Online Entry within the entry period, March 1 - July 25, 2009. Click the button below and register by no later than July 25.

After registering on the Preliminary Online Entry, the entrants must enter the competition officially by sending the Entry Form together with the CD and the photos of the work.

*1 Please print out your Preliminary Online Entry confirmation page, write your ‘Preliminary Online Entry Number’ in the top-right corner, and include it in the entry material. Please write your number on the Entry Form A & B, and include it when contacting us through e-mail.

*2 Information for the Preliminary Online Entry should be identical to that on the Entry Form, as it will be used for the database of the screenings. Your information will be used solely for the purpose of this exhibition.

(2) Official Entry (Submission of Entry Form, CD and Photos)

Send us the Entry Materials (Entry Forms A& B, 6 Photos and 1 CD) to the address below within the entry period, April 1 - July 31, 2009.

1. Entry Forms A and B

Fill out Entry Forms A and B in English. Type or print clearly.

Please fill in your Preliminary Online Entry Number in the designated area.

Read the Entry Form carefully. Entrants must sign their names/date at the bottom of Entry Form B.

* Inappropriate entry materials missing signature/date or with illegible handwriting etc. will not be accepted.

2. 6 Photos of the work

Prepare 6 Photos of the work (2L size: 13cm x 18cm). Attach 1 photo to Entry Form A, and enclose 5 in the envelope.

Label the back of each photo with your Preliminary Online Entry Number., the title of your work, your name, and ‘up’.

3. 1 CD-Rom containing the image of your work (Please observe following rules.)

Computer used for the screening is Windows, so CD-R should be Window format.

The file must be in “JPEG” format.

Submit one image in CD-R, and the Data capacity must be 1.5MB or less.

The image dimensions should be 2048 x 1536 pixels or less.

Name your file with your “Preliminary Online Entry Number”.

On the surface of the CD-R and its case, write your Preliminary Online Entry Number, the title of your work, your name and country.

The image in the CD-R and the original work should be identical in color tone etc.

The edited images are considered invalid entry.

Before submitting the CD-R, make sure to run it on the PC to test its readability.

*1 In cases where entry materials (Entry Forms A&B, CD and 6 Photos) are incomplete, entry will not be accepted.

*2 Please note that entry materials will not be returned under any circumstances.

(4)Entry Period

Entry materials (Entry Forms A&B, CD and 6 Photos) must arrive by no later than July 31, 2009.

*1 Entries received after the deadline has passed will not be accepted under any circumstances.

*2 We will not inform the entrants of the arrival of their entry materials.

Screenings(1)The 1st Screening (Screening of CDs/digital images)

Date: Sun. Sep. 6, 2009

The judges will examine the CDs (digital images) and the photos of the works entered from abroad.

* The organizer will contact the entrants whose works have passed the 1st Screening. Only the works that have passed the 1st Screening are qualified for the 2nd Screening.

(2) The 2nd Screening (Examination of Actual Works)

Date: Sun. Nov.1, 2009

The judges will examine the actual works of both from within Japan and from abroad.

For 2009/2010, eleven outstanding mid-career visual artists will be selected for 2-month VSC Residency Awards by a distinguished independent jury. One artist plus two alternates will be chosen from each of the following countries; China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam. (竟然稱香港和台灣為國家, 中國政府看到了該會不悅吧哈哈)

should be mounted in cardboard or plastic mounts, without adhesive labels.

4. inventory list with each work’s size, medium, year and title information.

5. international postal coupons and a self-addressed envelope if you want your slides returned. (Catalogues, books, and other materials will not be returned.)
