Nocturne II -a Solo Exhibition by Lin Bao Ling
首次個展才剛於 3/17 在 PKW 順利落幕，沒想到 4/19 馬上又要迎來第二次個展，這段時間真是拼了小命啊 XD！特別感謝 Dr Tony Ho 的邀請，非常開心能有機會在 Connoisseur Artworks 展出；也要特別感謝駐新加坡台北代表處的胡為真代表願意撥冗擔任開幕嘉賓～

My first solo exhibition at PKW just wrapped up on March 17, and my second solo show is already opening on April 19—it’s been an absolute whirlwind! XD
A huge thank you to Dr. Tony Ho for the kind invitation and for giving me the wonderful opportunity to exhibit at Connoisseur Artworks. I would also like to express my sincere gratitude to Dr. Hu Wei-Jen, Representative of the Taipei Representative Office in Singapore, for honoring us as the Guest-of-Honour for the opening.

About the Exhibition：
With a vivid imagination and a profound usage of brilliant, shimmering lights, Singapore-based Taiwanese artist Lin Bao Ling succinctly captures the neon haze of urban nightscapes – the vibrancy of the city and the complexity of city-dwelling. His paintings appear melancholy yet at the same time burst with energy, just as the irony that is the essence of modern cities. Nocturne II is a continuation to his previous solo exhibition, Nocturne, at Plastique Kinetic Worms; Bao Ling stays true to his resounding style of surreal lights, urban landscapes and rain-stained windows. It’s somber, yet festive abstract nature questions the viewer and begs for release.
展覽介紹：
憑藉著豐富的想像力，以及對璀璨光影的深刻運用，旅居新加坡的台灣藝術家林葆靈，洗練地捕捉了城市夜景中的霓虹暈光——既展現出都市的勃勃生機，也刻畫了棲居於城中的複雜心境。他的畫作看似憂鬱，同時卻又迸發著能量，宛如現代城市本質裡那份耐人尋味的諷刺性。
繼先前於 Plastique Kinetic Worms 舉辦的個展《夜曲》之後，《夜曲 II》延續了這一脈絡；林葆靈依然忠於他那標誌性的創作風格——充滿共鳴的超現實光影、都市景觀，以及雨水凝結的窗景。作品中兼具沉鬱與歡騰的抽象本質，向觀者提出了詰問，同時也渴望著解脫與釋放。
(b. Taiwan , 1981) graduated from LASALLE-SIA College of the Arts with a Bachelor of Arts (Fine Art) in 2006. He had first solo exhibition in March 2007 at Plastique Kinetic Worms Gallery. He has also participated in group exhibitions in Singapore and Malaysia . He was the overall winner of the Della Butcher Award in 2005 and a recipient of the Highly Commended Award for the 25th UOB Painting of theYear Competition. His paintings are actively collected by many, including notables such as Ms Yong Ying-I, Permanent Secretary of MOH and Dr Pwee Keng Hock of Utterly Art Gallery.
（1981年出生於台灣）於 2006 年畢業於拉薩爾–新航藝術學院（LASALLE-SIA College of the Arts），取得純藝術學士學位。2007 年 3 月，他於 Plastique Kinetic Worms 畫廊舉辦了首次個展，並曾多次參與新加坡與馬來西亞的聯展。
他於 2005 年榮獲Della Butcher Award 總冠軍，並曾獲第 25 屆「大華銀行年度繪畫大賽」（UOB Painting of the Year Competition）的高度推薦獎（Highly Commended Award）。他的畫作深受許多藏家喜愛並爭相收藏，其中包括新加坡衛生部常任秘書楊穎儀女士（Ms Yong Ying-I）以及 Utterly Art 畫廊的 Dr Pwee Keng Hock 等知名人士。

Exhibition Foreword
Since Connoisseur Artworks was founded in early 2006, we have strived to create a system of bi-monthly exhibitions showcasing art works by emerging local and international artists. Thus far, we have had three successful exhibitions – one group and two solo exhibitions. As a continuation to this winning model, we are pleased to showcase the art works of Singapore-based Taiwanese artist Lin Bao Ling.
Bao Ling’s art has an intrinsically evocative feeling about it, much like that artist himself. The incandescent portrayal of light contrasts with the gloom of darkness, and eschews a depth of feeling and artistry that befits a much more mature outlook than his youthful 25 years.
Although Nocturne II is only his second solo exhibition, it is clear to see why he has been oft described as a ‘gifted artist’. There is indeed an exceptional quality to his art work.
His paintings appear to transcend the mortal and emit an ethereal light. You can almost feel as if you are living and breathing inside the urban landscapes which he portrays. Its power and allure subtly tugs at one’s sense of feeling.
His subject of cityscape, although nothing new, is deeper than a simple over-exposed photograph because his paintings are a translation of his place in modern society. He meshes real and imaginary landscapes, tosses in a basket of his own emotions, and re-creates the city in a stunning magnificence.

葆靈的藝術本身帶有一種本能的感染力與渲染力，就如同他本人一樣。作品中璀璨耀眼的光影刻畫與幽暗沉寂形成鮮明對比，其中展現出的情感深度與藝術造詣，遠超他 25 歲的年輕氣銳，顯得格外成熟。
儘管《夜曲 II》僅僅是他的第二次個展，但不難看出他為何常被譽為「天賦異稟的藝術家」。他的作品中確實有一種超凡脫俗的品質。
他的畫作彷彿跨越了凡塵，散發著飄逸空靈的光芒。在其中，你幾乎能感覺自己正活在、並呼吸於他所描繪的都市景觀之中。那份力量與吸引力，正細膩地牽動著人們的心弦。
他所選擇的城市景觀題材雖然並不罕見，但卻比一張簡單曝光過度的照片更加深刻——因為他的作品，是他對自己於現代社會中身分與定位的轉譯。他將真實與想像的景象交織，傾注自身滿腔的情感，重新鑄造出一幅幅璀璨壯麗的城市氣象。
